Spending four years in Thailand with the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Advanced Research Projects Agency, Research & Development Center, Supreme Command-Thailand during the Vietnam War as contributor to the Mekong River Project counterinsurgency book for the U.S. Armed Forces, I also directed the aerial photography along the Mekong River from the CIA Sikorski Helio 19 helicopters. I was an aerial photographer while teaching high school and college science over 30-years. This is when I began collecting data for the MINDREACHER series. The ARPA library was a goldmine of information. Other books are: “Unraveling the Christmas Star Mystery” and “MARY KNEW – A Biography of Mary from Ancient Scriptures.” An avid artist and professional photographer, many projects are looming. What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it? The latest book is MINDREACHER. I began collecting data years ago that I might use in the sci-fi thriller. Working for ARPA gathering data for our troops future counterinsurgency efforts, if needed, took me to almost every airbase in Thailand and to all the areas needed to gather info all along the Mekong River bordering Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. I wanted to write a book so real that readers could not tell fact from fiction. Reader state I succeeded. I love the military and am quite a patriot. It shows in MINDREACHER. The concepts are new and exciting. Do you have any unusual writing habits? I use a computer as writing is too slow. My science and military tactics data collections took a 4-drawer file cabinet. I became a pilot to better write the flying section. Marines gave me sniper rifles to practice with for that section of the book. I like to experience much of what I write to be accurate. What authors, or books have influenced you? The first author I really enjoyed was Alistar McClean’s adventures. I had every one of his books and other sci-fi and/or thriller authors. What are you working on now? The second book in the series, “MINDREACHER – The Galapagos Project,” is finished. I am looking for an agent or publisher. What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books? I use social media, but can’t do it like you do. LOL I refer people to http://www.irenebaron.com and http://www.mindreacher.net Which Websites you like most to promote your book The only websites I have people can access are:www.irenebaron.com & http://www.mindreacher.net Do you have any advice for new authors? Keep abreast of the latest research and discoveries in your field of writing. Get permission to use information from the research teams or businesses. Acknowledge them and everyone who helps along the way. Months before your book is published, apply for the Library of Congress Control Number so librarians can find your book. Current ones include: “Space Settlements – A Design Study” by NASA,”2023 NIGHT SKY ALMANAC” by Nicole Mortillaro for my Astronomy Club, What’s next for you as a writer? I have been creating art for an Angel Alphabet Book. The art work takes much time and is very detailed. The art is similar to Russian icons but original in every way. MArk Tierno Facebook Facebook Twitter Instagram Linkedin Goodreads-g Amazon Book-open Tell us about yourself and how many books you have written. I am a full-time author and ghostwriter and holder of a Master’s Degree in Physics, which often plays well in my creation of other worlds. I am a master of creating alien and fantastical worlds, having written some 35 books to date, including the 13-book epic that is Maldene, the 5-book supernatural conspiracy story of Cyberdawn, the Inspector Flaatphut series, and more. I just have this one problem with writing, though: I can’t stop! I am a writer and storyteller through to the core. I have been writing my own novels since 1993– close to 35 of them at last count, making my career wordcount close to 10 million words– and that was after about 15 years of planning out the first of them. I have been a professional ghostwriter since 2010, though I have lost track of the number of books so ghostwritten. Furthermore, I have a Master’s Degree in Physics and a second BS in Math, which plays well with my creation of other worlds and alien sciences. My mind has gone to the ends of the Multiverse and back, and engraved my imaginative musings into such stories as I would love the world to see. In short, I start at ‘epic’ and work up from there, but all while never forgetting that it is the characters that the story hangs upon. What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it? “Night Of The Skulls” It’s a steam-pulp novel written by myself to cap off a series of stories that me and three others cobbled together about the Londinium Explorer’s Club. Do you have any unusual writing habits? I write to music playing, and pretty much start at 7:30 in the morning, writing through about 4 or 5, break, then edit that night. Once a chapter is finished then I edit that again and prep for the next chapter. At the end of a book I go through the endire book one more time. I can usually pen a 350,000-word novel in about 3 months. What authors, or books have influenced you? A LOT. Heinlein, Clarke, Asimov, Andre Norton, A. E. Van Vogt. What are you working on now? Between ghostwriting gigs I’m outlining my next set of books that revolve around a world with 16 moons and a couple of rather original plot points. My current working title is “Many Worlds” What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books? http://www.maldene.com I have al;l my social media linked through there. Also on FB my fan page is https://www.facebook.com/Mark-Anthony-Tierno-Author-of-Maldene-117102904979088/ Which Websites you like most to promote your book Still haven’t found any really great ones. I’m on FB, of course: https://www.facebook.com/Mark-Anthony-Tierno-Author-of-Maldene-117102904979088/ and my own site at http://www.maldene.com Do you have any advice for new authors? If you aren’t doing this because of a passion, if writing is work to you, then don’t quite your day job. On the other hand, if Monday means “Oh, great, I get to start a new chapter today!” and weekends mean t’s a long time to monday, if you work up an emotional sweat with everything you write, then don’t give up that dream. What is the best advice you have ever heard? Coming from myself, which is the exact opposite to some advice a rather famous SF author gave in a book of his, and that is to forget the market and write your passion. The market will change, and if you write something you have little passion it then that will show. But write what your soul feels and that too will show in the extraordinary things you will find yourself putting to paper. What are you reading now? One of my old books from my LAnd of the Hive series; I like to re-rerad my stuff from time to time to remind myself how I write for me (as opposed to what I write for clients), but always with an editing pen in hand just in case I find a typo or two. What’s next for you as a writer? Well, I’ve got the “great writer” part licked, now I just need to get the “rich and famous” part of the equation going. If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring? A rather thorough survival guide, a directory of Ham and shortwave frequencies (along with the complementary radio that would come with it, so I can call for help), an anthology of the best SF and Fantasy stories for whichever year it would be, and one of my own.

He recently published his second book titled, Kleptomaniac: Who’s Really Robbing God Anyway, which takes you on a proverbial archaeological quest to uncover the true meaning of biblical tithing. What is the name of your latest book and what inspired it? My latest book is Kleptomaniac: Who’s Really Robbing God Anyway? The storied inspiration behind Kleptomaniac: Who’s Really Robbing God Anyway is a 30-year unfolding tale of suspicion, intrigue and questions. My quest for truth started innocently when I first became a believer in the Messiah. One of the teachings I first became indoctrinated to was the practice of paying ten percent of my income to the coffers of the institutional church as a command from God. As years passed by I began to question this overtaxing financial obligation. Although it was tough to pay this kind of money year after year, I dutifully kept my obligation to pay God ten percent no matter the circumstances. Even in the face of not being able to pay my bills and struggling to feed my family, I paid God what He required to His representative on earth—the Church. I did this in hopes of receiving a financial blessing from God for my commitment. The scriptures pastors relied on for monetary tithing resides Malachi 3:8-10. As the years passed, I began to notice the windfall financial blessing I hoped to receive from God never materialized. The abundance that was to overtake me financially somehow escaped my grasp. After 30 years of paying ten percent of my income as a so-called tithe to God, my questions about the practice grew as my financial struggles mounted. About several years ago, I started investigating the doctrine of tithing on a deeper theological and scholastic level out of a need to try to find some financial relief. It all began as a power point study and eventually turned into me writing the book to stop the Sunday Morning stickup.. Do you have any unusual writing habits? Well, they say writers are supposed to use an outline when writing. Well, in my case, my unusual writing habit is not to use an outline but go for broke. What authors, or books have influenced you? T.D. Jakes and Gordon Dalbey What are you working on now? Right now since i’ve written the book, I mostly write tithing newsletters break down my book into small informational nuggets for readers to glean from. What is your best method or website when it comes to promoting your books? I try to use as many different website as I can. I don’t think none have reached the category of best. I have not really found a website or best method. Which Websites you like most to promote your book Of course my personal author website and perhaps the website Book Baby. Do you have any advice for new authors? Follow your heart, but ground yourself in the foundations of the craft of writing and the art of marketing, networking, and public relations. Build a team of individuals around you who are experts at what they do and trust them for their expertise. What is the best advice you have ever heard? The best advice I consider great is that authors don’t need literary agents. If you were going to be stranded on a desert island and allowed to take 3 or 4 books with you what books would you bring? The Bible, and some of my favorite books such as Tithing Nailed to the Cross, The Secret Life of the Soul, Should the Church Teach Tithing.
